Common Core State Standards Now Included in netTrekker Search, Leading Educational Search Tool

CINCINNATI, OH — December 14th, 2011 — netTrekker, a leader in delivering digital K-12 educational content, announced today that its flagship product, netTrekker Search, now includes access to digital resources and information aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math.

netTrekker Search users will now be able to find safe, educator-vetted digital resources that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards in the same way they currently find content aligned to individual state standards within the netTrekker Search digital solution.

"A third grader who is preparing for the state assessment this year will also have to be prepared for the 6th grade Common Core assessment by the 2014-2015 school year. By providing digital resources aligned to the Common Core State Standards in netTrekker Search, we are providing teachers with the tools they need now to begin planning, implementing and preparing students to master the knowledge and skills they will need for success in college and careers," said Randy Wilhelm, CEO of netTrekker.

The netTrekker Search solution allows users to search for and access content based on both state and Common Core Standards, thus giving students and teachers everything they need to prepare for assessments that are tied to either set of standards. Available automatically to current netTrekker Search subscribers, and standard with any new netTrekker Search subscription, teachers can now go to the Common Core State Standards section for any academic level within the product and find digital resources (such as videos, lesson plans, assessments, skills practice and interactive whiteboard materials) to address those standards.

netTrekker Search offers more than 300,000 safe, educator-reviewed digital resources from around the web and from partner offerings that are aligned to standards and span all K-12 subject areas. Innovative resources, including lesson plans, videos, images, learning games, and other Web resources, ensure that educators can find appropriate and relevant materials to help every student learn and achieve. Each resource is categorized by standard, grade level, reading level, media type and other refinement options, empowering educators and students to identify the right resources to meet each student’s individual needs, no matter where the student is on the learning continuum.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The standards were developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and experts, to provide a clear and consistent framework to prepare our children for college and the workforce. Already adopted by 45 states, the transition from state standards to Common Core has already begun and will continue for the next few years. Unlike most current state standards, the Common Core State Standards are more focused on concept mastery at each grade level so that students are better prepared for college or career.
